Ben & Jerry's Foundation was established in 1985 through a donation of stock in Ben & Jerry's Homemade, Inc. These funds are used as an endowment. In addition, Ben & Jerry's Homemade, Inc. makes yearly donations at its board's discretion of over $1.1 million dollars, adjusted upward annually for sales growth and inflation. The Foundation receives a portion of these funds.Three times a year the Ben & Jerry's Foundation may fund a small number of material grants for $1,000 or less for innovative programs that fit into their general guidelines and that are infused with a spirit of hopefulness.
BDPA New York chapter and the BDPA Foundation agreed to submit a letter of interest to Ben & Jerry's Foundation. We seek funding of $850 to cover 25 roundtrip Metrocards and awards/plaques for the students, instructors and volunteers in the NY-based Student IT Education & Scholarship program.
