Leroy White - President, BDPA Dayton - Leroy White is the newest BDPA chapter leader. He heads up our BDPA Dayton chapter for 2016-2017. He has been working with the Midwest regional leadership team to get his chapter up and running. The chapter is hosting its next meeting on June 25th. Leroy is an alumni of Central State University. We expect major things from BDPA Dayton chapter in the coming weeks and months.

Nekeisha Rouse - VP-Membership Management, BDPA New Jersey - She has worked in the past as the FIT Day coordinator; annual banquet; VP-Member Services; and now the VP-Membership Management. Nekeisha shared her insights on BDPA New Jersey including the Families in Technology Day. She described the event which has been going on for the past 13 years in New Jersey. The event happens next month and it would be wonderful to replicate FIT Day in other locations. Curtis Timmons - deputy Chief Information Officer, Cleveland Metropolitan School District - Curtis Timmons is a candidate for the National VP-Finance vacancy. There are four (4) candidates for that vacancy. Curtis currently serve as the Deputy Chief Information Officer for Cleveland Metropolitan School District. The District comprises 7500 employees and 40,000 students and a $1 billion budget. He manages a staff of 50+ employees, $15+ million annual budget, and managed services contracts of $4+ million annually. Manages strategic partnerships (private and public sector organizations) and vendor performance and relations.

He is a proven business leader with 20+ years’ experience in IT strategic and operational planning, financial management, business analytics, capital and operating investment planning, IT governance, and IT service delivery. Directed organizations of up to 130 staff and 45+ contractors. Managed annual budgets of $61 million that included CAPEX to OPEX transition, capital investment prioritization using ROI, NPV and IRR valuations. Negotiated technology products and services contracts upward of $35 million. Achieved cumulative cost savings of $30 million and was awarded federal program funding of $60+ million.

Prior to joining Cleveland Metropolitan School District, Curtis served as President, TMS Consulting; Chief Technology Officer, Memphis Board of Education; Senior Manager & Manager, e-Business Services, Sara Lee Corporation; and a host of other corporate companies. He is retired from the U.S. Marine Corps after 22 years as a Data Systems Officer. During his military career, his received the following awards:

• Navy Commendation Medal
• Navy Achievement Medal
• Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal
• National Defense Service Medal
• Armed Forces Reserve Medal

In addition, he holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Strayer University; and completing a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Strayer University.

Herchran Singh

Herchran Singh - college student, Gustavus Adolphus College - Herchran Singh is a junior at Gustavus Adolphus College. She is a long-time member of the BDPA Southern Minnesota chapter. She competed 3 times (2011-2013) as part of the chapter's High School Computer Competition (HSCC) team ... earning Dr.Jesse Bemley Scholarships each year from her participation. Her team won the championship in 2011 and 2013. This past year she won the bronze medal in the 2nd Annual BDPA Mobile Application Showcase ... earning a State Farm college scholarship. Herchran is hardworking and strives for excellence through the deep desire to learn. She leads others by activating, motivating, and encouraging them to reach their highest potential. She has been on the Dean's List at her college and she won the Aspirations in Computing Award from the National Center for Women in Information Technology in 2013. Her BDPA legacy is powerful and our BDPA iRadio Show will enjoy hearing her thoughts on BDPA and her preparation to compete at the annual conference over the past five years! Rene' Yarborough

Rene' Yarborough - senior manager, Baxter International - Rene' Yarborough is a senior IT manager at Baxter International. She has been in BDPA for many years as she moved from Cincinnati to Philadelphia to Chicago. She was recently elected as the Administrative Vice President of our BDPA Chicago chapter. Gene Waddy - chief executive officer, Diversant - Gene Waddy was a presenter at the 2015 BDPA Technology Conference. His presentation was thoughtful and it encouraged many BDPA members who were in attendance to prepare to succeed in their career choices. Gene is a visionary entrepreneur and the owner of Diversant. Diversant is the nation's largest Black-owned IT staffing and solutions firm. The company has enjoyed dramatic growth, even during the economic downturn. The company does over $150 million in annual sales. We've asked Gene to share his thoughts on how minority youth can get involved with technology and how they can use it to advance their careers and lives. Gene is very active in a number of organizations, including his fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha. He was named a winner of the 2013 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in New Jersey. Kyle Rivers

Kyle Rivers - Marketing Webmaster, Bloomfield College - Kyle Rivers is a volunteer instructor at Bloomfield College. The weekly program welcomes students from 24 New Jersey schools and provides instruction in areas such as web development, application development, and database design and development. Kyle trained the high school students who represented BDPA New Jersey in the national High School Computer Competition (HSCC) championship held at the 2015 National Technology Conference. The team came in 5th place winning a Dr. Jesse Bemley Scholarship for their high performance ... the second-highest ranking in the history of BDPA New Jersey chapter! The relationship between BDPA New Jersey and Bloomfield College is unique. Our audience learned more about this strategic alliance. We also learned about Kyle's experience in the training as well as his actual experience in Washington DC during the week of the conference.

Dr. Shar Roberson

Dr. Sharlene Roberson - Program Director, Towson University - Dr. Sharlene Roberson is a long-time member of BDPA. For many years she served as the HSCC coordinator for our BDPA Philadelphia chapter. While working in private industry she continued her education ... eventually receiving her Doctor of Education (Ed.D) degree in Educational Leadership and Organizational Management from the University of Pennsylvania. In 2014 she went to work for Towson University as a STEM Program Director. In that role, she coordinates student success strategies and interventions, such as STEM Programming, expanded tutoring services, one-on-one advising and cohort meetings. She works closely with the STEM Scholars and Towson Opportunities in STEM (TOPS) students. Shar has maintained her membership in BDPA for decades and our BDPA iRadio Show audience would love to hear her story and any advice from her experience working with STEM students at the college level.

Lyn Muldrow

Lyn Muldrow - Web Developer, Cactus Sky - Lyn Muldrow is a front-end web developer whose aim is to create or work on teams to create lasting social experiences for users. She is currently working for Cactus Sky Digital, a full-service digital marketing agency providing email marketing, online reputation management, website development, social media, public relations, and automotive solutions. Lyn has worked in the online marketing and customer engagement/support field for over 8 years. In that time she provided web design (HTML/CSS), social media management, user experience advice, and other marketing solutions for companies of all sizes, with an emphasis on small businesses and start-ups.

Lyn is an outspoken advocate for diversity in tech, and works tirelessly to increase access to tech skills for women and people of color. She volunteers with organizations like Lesbians Who Tech and RailsBridge that align with her personal mission, and she hopes to inspire future generations to pursue tech-focused careers. Adrian Ables

Adrian Ables - college student, Depauw University - Adrian Ables is a senior at DePauw University. He won the Johnson & Johnson Scholarship for BDPA Students. Adrian was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He has lived with his family in Oklahoma for most of his life. His passion has always been soccer ever since he was a little kid. He loves reaching out to his community and teaching kids how to play soccer. He teaches young people that they need to work hard on and off the field. Adrian is the captain of the soccer team at DePauw University. Adrian drove to Cincinnati earlier this summer to participate in the BDPA Midwest Regional IT Showcase. He competed in the 13th annual BDPA IT Showcase in Washington DC last month. His topic focused on social media and how it can positively impact the workplace infrastructure, communication, and environment. Our BDPA iRadio Show listeners would like to hear about Adrian's experience at the BDPA conference and how he plans to use his JnJ college scholarship funding.

Haron Arama

Hank Arama - High School Computer Competition Alumni, BDPA Southern Minnesota - Haron Arama is a senior at John Marshall High School in Rochester, Minnesota. He was part of the team trained by BDPA Southern Minnesota to participate in the 2015 National BDPA High School Computer Competition (HSCC) championship held in Washington DC. His team came in 4th place and earned him a Dr. Jesse Bemley Scholarship. Our audience will be interested in learning more about the training that Haron was part of in Rochester as well as his experiences during the week of the conference.

Mike Williams - vice president, National BDPA - Mike Williams accepted appointment as National BDPA vice president in January 2014. He is the global head of information technology (IT) operations for Cigna. As a senior IT executive, his reputation has been built on developing and leading high-performing IT teams that deliver on the promise of service. As a change agent and strategist, He works with teams to define innovative and pragmatic approaches to business problems while aligning IT strategies with business objectives. He leads teams that consistently attain service delivery excellence, reduce costs, and optimize IT investments and resources. Mike is running unopposed in the upcoming National BDPA election to become the 17th national president in the 40-year history of the organization. Sharnecia Williams - vice president, BDPA Atlanta - Sharnecia Williams is a Systems Specialist with Macy's. She has over 11 years’ experience as an IT professional who specializes in application development. Throughout her career, she has functioned as a developer, tester, operations advocate and a development lead managing multiple projects. For the past few years she has served as the Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations for BDPA Atlanta chapter. She has worked to ensure that the BDPA brand in the greater Atlanta area. Her chapter has a strong presence on a number of social media platforms. She decided to offer her skill-set to the national organization as it implements its new branding efforts. Deena Pierott - chief networking officer, Mosaic Blueprint - Deena Pierott is the president of Mosaic Blueprint. She has an extensive career in both the public and private sectors and was always the "change agent". Not until later in life did she realize that all that changing up and creating things was actually someone with an entrepreneurial spirit. Now as an entrepreneur she has several businesses running at the same time. Mosaic Blueprint is a boutique firm located in the Pacific NW specializing in recruiting and on-boarding, multicultural communications, outplacement services and career counseling. One of her major programs is the iUrban Teen Technology program focuses on "non-traditional" STEM learners ages 13 to 18. The teenagers in this program are exposed to the world of technology careers. Our target demographic are African American males and Latino males. However, the program is inclusive of all and we have almost equal parity of girls that participate as well. Harold Frazier, Jr.

Harold Frazier, Jr. - director, Vertical Computer Systems - Harold Frazier is the director of mobile software development for Vertical Computer Systems. He is an example of what BDPA means when it says that we provide programs and services from the 'classroom to the boardroom' for its membership. Harold was a member of the 1995 High School Computer Competition (HSCC) championship team that was trained by our BDPA Detroit chapter. He earned a computer science degree from the University of Michigan and has advanced to being a co-inventor of patented application called, 'Mobile Web-Based Interpreter'. Lewis Newton

Lewis Newton - account manager, Digital Management Inc. - Lewis Newton participated in the National BDPA High School Computer Competition team trained by BDPA Washington DC chapter in 1990 ... 25 years ago. Kevin Robinson - Premier Field Engineer, Microsoft - Kevin Robinson is a senior premier field engineer over 30 years of experience in the IT industry, the past 10 years with Microsoft. Kevin was a presenter at the 2014 BDPA Technology Conference on the topic, 'Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) - Windows Azure'. His workshop worked through the rationalizations of why IaaS makes sense including discussing scenarios when and where it makes sense for your business. Also, Kevin will explore ways that BDPA can significantly scale its national High School Computer Competition program from impacting hundreds of students to the point that it can impact thousands of students in the near term. Kevin highlight his workshop presentation with our BDPA iRadio Show audience.

It is worth noting that Kevin is one of the highest individual donors to the BDPA Education and Technology Foundation! He is an illustration of what it means to give your time, treasure and talents to support BDPA. BDPA is a remarkable corporate champion within Microsoft. Tonji Zimmerman - program manager, BDPA Mobile Application Showcase - Tonji Zimmerman is a senior technology consultant focused on e-learning solutions. For many years she served as the High School Computer Competition coordinator for BDPA Detroit chapter. She trained a number of high school students that earned both college scholarships and experiences that propelled them into colleges across the country. Tonji has taken on a new challenge for 2014-2015 ... she is the program manager for the National BDPA Mobile Application Showcase. This event allows both high school and college students an opportunity to develop a functional Mobile Application. The applications showcased will represent three different application categories (i.e. business, personal productivity, and gaming). The Showcase was piloted at the 2014 National BDPA Technology Conference with $19,000 in college scholarships being awarded by State Farm. Next year the goal is to have 40 students participating in the event. Tonji will have a lot to share with our iRadio Show audience!

Wayne Hicks - executive director, BDPA Education and Technology Foundation - Wayne provided an update on a number of initiatives taking place within the foundation. He announced the names of the four students who won the 2014 Monsanto Scholarship for BDPA Students. He also shared updates on successful grant proposals won by BETF from Creating IT Futures Foundation ($5,000) and GE Volunteers Foundation ($20,000). BETF plans to participate in the #GivingTuesday fundraising campaign taking place on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (December 2, 2014). The idea is to follow-up on Black Friday and Cyber Monday as events to galvanize the start of the holiday shopping season. Finally, Wayne shared information about the BDPA Chapter Building Workshop series that is taking place in the BDPA Google+ Community. Wayne can be found on Twitter - @BDPA

Joneé continues her march on the journey of 'classroom to boardroom' that we admire within the BDPA family. Joneé graduated from Purdue University after leaving Gary, IN. She has worked at Eli Lilly for her entire professional career ... and current BDPA students still benefit from the work that she did to establish the annual Eli Lilly Scholarship for BDPA Students. Anjuan Simmons - Project Manager, OnCenter Software - Anjuan Simmons is a technologist with a successful track record of delivering technology solutions from the user interface to the database. He is currently a software project manager at a leading construction software manufacturer, and he worked as a technology executive for Infosys, Accenture, and Deloitte, all multi-billion dollar technology services companies with hundreds of clients around the world.

He is also the author of Minority Tech: Journaling Through Blackness and Technology. Derris wants the students to understand that the notion of acquiring a job may be worn-out. Careers are the new paradigm in the information technology industry. Derris will help the young people understand how to assess their skills and implement strategies to maximize their ability to find new career paths in their future. Adam Hecktman - Director, Microsoft - Adam Hecktman is the director of technology and civic engagement for Microsoft. Adam will be a presenter at the 2014 BDPA Youth Technology Camp on the topic, "Microsoft's Innovation Vision". His multi-media presentation covers trends that Microsoft sees for the future of technology and how they apply in the real world. Trends including natural user interaction, big data, mobile, social, cloud and others are explored for our future.
