BDPA Philadelphia chapter was recently honored during a ceremony at City Hall. The Mayor's Commission on Technology recognized BDPA with a proclamation from the City of Philadelphia for contributions in planning the 10th Anniversary of Black Family Technology Awareness Week (BFTAW).Hayward West (5th from the left in the photo), the chapter’s president-elect accepted the award on behalf of the chapter. BDPA Philadelphia chapter is committed to shaping the lives of future generations by demonstrating the importance of careers in math, science, engineering and technology fields.
"We are very pleased to join with the City of Philadelphia in its efforts to cultivate the next generation of inventors, scientists and engineers.” said Monique Berry, President of BDPA Philadelphia. “Our goal is to get minority youth interested in technology by showing them how challenging, fun and exciting the field of IT can be."BDPA events during 2009 BFTAW included local school visits, family technology night and The Legacy event at the African American Cultural Center.
