Grant Proposal: Darden Restaurants Foundation (BDPA Middle Tennessee)

BDPA Middle Tennessee chapter appointed Homer Britton (Deloitte) as its liaison to the BDPA Education and Technology Foundation (BETF). Homer worked closely with BETF to complete an online grant application to the Darden Restaurants Foundation. Our grant seeks $2,500 in funding to support the Student Information Technology Education & Scholarship (SITES) program in the greater Nashville (TN) area.

Grant Declination: Darden Restaurants Foundation

BDPA Education & Technology Foundation (BETF) and BDPA Atlanta chapter submitted a grant proposal to Darden Restaurants Foundation in support of the chapter's youth education programs. We recently learned that Darden Restaurants Foundation was not going to be able to financially support our grant proposal. They wrote:

Despite this grant declination ... we still encourage all BDPA supporters to eat at Darden-owned restaurants when you have inclination to do so. However, next time you are there speak with the manager about donating some vittles to your local chapter's weekend traning efforts!

Grant Proposal: Darden Restaurants Foundation (Atlanta)

BDPA Education and Technology Foundation (BETF) and BDPA Atlanta chapter partnered on an online grant proposal to the Darden Restaurants Foundation. We looked to the Darden Restaurants Foundation because of the recent news that the corporation is headed by Clarence Otis, Jr, one of the few African American CEOs heading up a Fortune 500 company.

Our grant proposal was submitted as part of Darden's Community Alliance Program (CAP). Darden participates in, and contributes to, over 500 events and programs in these CAP cities. These relationships ensure their ability to be a neighbor of choice and to positively impact the communities in which they operate. CAP cities include: Atlanta, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Oklahoma City and Orlando.

We will let you know how Darden responds to our grant proposal in support of the Student Information Technology Education & Scholarship (SITES) program in greater Atlanta. In the meantime, you can encourage us with your own donation to BETF. What say u?
