Duke Energy Foundation reviews grant requests at a regional level. These grant requests are considered in the context of the needs of the community and in alignment with the foundation's areas of focus. At the core of The Duke Energy Foundation is its commitment to the community. The focus area that provides the most promise for funding BDPA programs is:

• Economic Development
  
  1. Pre K-12 education focused on math, science and technology
  2. Higher education, government or other non-profit initiatives designed to support innovative solutions for business/industry/workforce challenges.

Is your chapter operating in a Duke Energy community? Does your chapter have any members that are Duke Energy employees? Answer 'yes' to either or both of these questions and we should follow-up with a joint grant proposal. BETF operates on a first-come; first-served basis. Let us know if your chapter is interested in pursuing this potential funding source.

Grant Declination: Duke Energy Foundation (Charlotte)

We learned today that the grant proposal to Duke Energy Foundation was turned down.   BETF-Blog readers may recall that BDPA Education and Technology Foundation (BETF) and BDPA Charlotte chapter partnered on a $15,050 grant proposal seeking funds for the chapter's Student Information Technology Education & Scholarship (SITES) program.

The declination letter read as follows:

BDPA Education and Technology Foundation (BETF) and BDPA Charlotte chapter submitted a $15,050 grant proposal to the Duke Energy Foundation. Duke Energy Foundation seeks to support programs focused on science, technology and mathematics -- and that is a remarkable fit for our Student Information Technology Education & Scholarship (SITES) program.

The Duke Energy Foundation seeks to improve the quality of life in communities they serve by sharing their time through volunteer efforts, their expertise through leadership and their financial support through grants to charitable organizations.

Grant requests are reviewed at a regional level and considered in the context of the needs of the community and in alignment with their areas of focus.
