BDPA Honors General Motors Sponsorship

Black Data Processing Associates (BDPA) honors General Motors, one of the world’s greatest automobile manufacturers, for their sponsorship of BDPA’s 39th Annual National Technology Conference and Career Fair to be held July 26-29, 2017 at the Duke Energy Convention Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. Headquartered in Detroit, Michigan, General Motors serves six continents, has 225,000 employees, and delivers ten million vehicles globally.

BDPA is the largest African American information technology association in the U.S., and the largest national non-profit organization continually involved in training students underrepresented in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). BDPA was founded in 1975 by Earl Pace and David Wimberly to close the digital divide for underrepresented minorities in STEM fields.

BDPA Corporate Sales Presentation: Detroit (2013)

BDPA Detroit chapter president Beverly Moore and the National BDPA Corporate Sales director Wayne Hicks are scheduled to have a conference call in a few days with some executives from General Motors. The focus of the discussion will be on ways that General Motors can become a BDPA corporate sponsor.

Beverly put together this 23-page .ppt deck to describe ways that any corporation can invest in her chapter. It is a comprehensive document and may serve as a 'best practice' for other chapters seeking to improve their revenue stream from corporate sales.

It starts with good grades. But goes beyond. A dedicated student. A leader in school. A volunteer worker. A college-bound and community-minded individual. The Buick Achievers Scholarship Program wants to reward students who have succeeded both inside and outside of the classroom—and who may not be able to attend college without financial assistance.

REWARDING ACHIEVEMENT, EXPERIENCE & COMMITMENT Scholarship recipients are selected based on the following factors:

• Academic achievement and financial need.  
• Participation and leadership in community and school activities.
• Work experience.
•  Interest in pursuing a career in the automotive or related industry.

2009 GMMDA Scholarship Program - Nov 14, 2008

The General Motors Minority Dealers Association Scholarship Program provides scholarships each year to help deserving minority college students pursue their educational dreams. The scholarships, which are awarded on behalf of all GMMDA members, have resulted in a great number of success stories for minority students across the country. This scholarship is for high school seniors graduating in 2008 along with college students enrolled during the 2008-2009 school year. Read application for complete eligibility. Applications must be postmarked no later than November 14, 2008.

A limited number of scholarships in the amount of $2,500 are awarded annually to ethnic minority high school seniors and college students who meet all criteria and requirements set forth by the scholarship committee.

Applicants are chosen based upon their academic excellence, volunteer and work experience, career aspirations and the strength of a personal statement.
